Flew to Salvador Bahia, then took a 6-hour long bus ride deep into the interior until we reached Lençóis—our basecamp for exploring Chapada Diamantina. This became one of those trips where every day brought something completely different.
Each morning we'd set out on a new hike: caves filled with bats hanging overhead, incredible plateau mountains that seemed to stretch forever, crystal-clear pools hidden in the rocks. The opportunity to visit a remote quilombo where a local took us down the river in a rustic canoe. Floating through that wilderness felt like traveling back in time—just the sound of water and birds, surrounded by forest.
